Grading & Promotions Information

 

BJA Directors of Examiners meeting held at Walsaw on Saturday 5th January 2008

 
I attended the BJA Director of Examiners meeting at Walsaw on Saturday 5th January 2008 , these are held periodically and used to discuss and disseminate changes and updates concerning all gradings within the governing body. 
 
The main topic of conversation was the proposed changes to the junior grading system from a theory/ competitive  to a purely technical system.
 
It is possible that this may go live from April this year with the 1st to 9th mon grades being affected, however the document recently circulated is only a working paper and as such the syllabus has not yet been written, it is thought that that will soon be completed and will be based on the working paper, with the 1st to 6th mon probably not being affected. 
 
What has still not been decided either is if the system will include up to 18th mon from April or be left until perhaps November 08 for 8th to 18th to be introduced.  Basically there will be changes  and soon but exactly what  will not know for a few weeks, as soon as I know then we will publish them on this website, any one with a query is very welcome to give me a call on 07795044439 or by email to my address on my web profile.

PSUK regularly run gradings for all members from novice to 5th Dan,  gradings are held at the two residential training weekends and also on occasion at Avon & Somerset Police HQ.

Those members currently actively grading please note that  " old" points scheme for Dan Grades will cease at the end of 2007 and all Dan Grades will come into the new system of 100 points for all grades within the "Dan's"  regardless of age. Time constraints between grades will also be implemented.

We are fortunate in that PSUK have several Senior Examiners who are qualified to examine the new

" Technical Grade" for Dan grades.

 We are currently carrying out a grade review of all PSUK members , however in the meanwhile if any member wishes to be accessed for a Technical Grade please contact me
