USPE Judo Championships 2011
Paris 13th to 16th May 2011

Paris saw the location for the 16th USPE European Judo Championships , although the number of countries competing was down from previous years the standard of judo was certainly not with many competitors having competed in Olympic, World and European championships, for example Lucie Decosse of France the current world number one competing for European Police titles.
The championships was staged at the impressive HQ of the French Judo Federation with four mat areas and a large warm up area, the British Police team lead by
PSUK Chairman: Cheshire DCC Graham Gerrard, were;
National Coaches
Chris Hunt Devon & Cornwall - Retired, Andy Moss Cheshire
Darren Dean North Wales
Ladies Team
Kate Harris West Midlands, Lauren Holley Devon and Cornwall
Lindsay Haggart Surrey
Men's Team
Gary Cole Dyfed Powys , Gary Liddle Surrey
Stuart Harris West Midlands , Lee Holley Devon and Cornwall
Jason Moore Grampian , Duncan Jones West Mercia
Gavin McNeil Lothian and Borders
The team had been preparing for this event over the past year and were ready for the challenges they were to meet; unfortunately no medals were won however Jason, Kate, Lauren and Gary Cole all fought for bronze medals and were unlucky not to be successful.
The entire PSUK team were a credit, competing against police officers many of whom are fulltime judo players within their home national team and see little if none active police duty. To compete against judo players of this standard in such a competitive manner says much for each member of the team, of which the coaching team and head of delegation are very proud.
The event finished on the Sunday evening with a dinner which saw everyone dancing into the small hours.
The team now look forward to competing in the PSUK National Championships in September at Guildford.
